Laser 2000 Race & Play Weekend

Bala Sailing Club 24th-26th May 2008

Bala will once again be staging something a bit different for the 2000 sailors joining us for our Whit Regatta. Our provisional programme for the weekend will be:-

Friday evening from around 19:30 Drinks and chat in the bar

Saturday 12:00 to 13:00
Getting the best from your Laser 2000. A shore based walk around an L2K with hints on setting up and tuning the boat and tips on how to get round the race course faster.

Saturday 13:30
Let’s see the whole of the lake with a long distance race over the full 4 (or so) miles of Bala Lake. An opportunity to take in the beautiful scenery and get some ‘time in the boat’ practice.
N.B. Subject to the weather not being extreme either way!

Saturday 15:30
Tea break followed by a couple of hours on the water coaching

Sunday
Separate class starts for the 2000 fleet over the Regatta race course.

Monday
A series of ‘Turbo’ style short races of about 15 minute duration giving lots of close, fun racing which certainly sharpens up the boat handling skills – just in time for the Inland Championships.

There will be full catering and social over the weekend. We anticipate having live entertainment on Saturday evening. This event and the Regatta will end with the prize giving at 1400 on Monday.

Given the importance of the Class Association in supporting and promoting the fleet we expect all competitors to be Association Members. This is particularly true when recognising that class coaching is always delivered free to Association Members. At £15.00 pa membership represents fantastic value for money and you can join on the weekend!
